History
The roots of PLIVA-Lachema Diagnostika reach as far as to the year 1951 when a newly established state-owned enterprise, LACHEMA, started to produce and adjust clean, laboratory and special chemical products.
From the 1960s the company started to focus mainly on the public health sector. Commencement of the diagnostic 
programme was confirmed in 1967 - by the means of launching the very first diagnostic kit on the market. The BIO-LA-TEST® product line was established and its further development allowed for performance of export activities of LACHEMA oriented on the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
In 1977 the company introduced the PHAN® line of urine test strips and in 1984 the three basic product lines were supplemented by a range of identification kits for microbiological purposes (MIKRO-LA-TEST®). All the aforementioned products were based on the research activities of the company.
In the early 1990s the state-owned enterprise, LACHEMA, was transformed to a joint stock company and at 
the beginning of year 2000 the company became a member of the multi-national pharmaceutical PLIVA Group. The Diagnostic Division of the company continued the processes of development and modernization of the diagnostic portfolio and it principally focused on improvement of quality of its products. Thanks to this approach it has managed to reinforce its key position in the Czech and Slovak Republics as well as a strong position on the markets in countries of the Central and Eastern Europe.
The accession of the Czech Republic to the European Union created additional opportunities pertaining to 
development of commercial, marketing and development activities of the company. Thanks to the unique combination of long-term experience and implementation of modern trends and procedures the diagnostic branch of the PLIVA company proves to be ready to exploit the opportunities to the full extent - within the scope of the new, independent company PLIVA - Lachema Diagnostika s.r.o.
